Position Summary
The driver works as a member of the transportation team. Additional collaboration with day treatment staff is essential to job responsibilities. Drivers must be able to offer verbal support to clients and is responsible for the overall functioning and safety of their route. Drivers will have their regular daily routes (morning and afternoon), as well as periodical routes as assigned (field trips, etc.).

Position- Van Driver. This position requires availability from 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
Note: You must have a valid California Driver License.
Essential Functions
Driving:
- Drive the daily routes before and after school, following the set schedule and times. Adjust route if needed. Drive other routes (field trips, etc.) as assigned periodically.
- Comply with all traffic and highway rules and regulations. Follow emergency procedures and directions.
- Follow safety procedures for loading and unloading passengers.
- Create a positive and comfortable environment for all passengers. Ensure passenger's physical comfort (temperature, space, etc.), maintain appropriate noise level (conversation, music), and ensure appropriate topics and language for conversations or music.
- Maintain order and safety, assist passengers as needed.
Maintenance:
- Perform a walk through before and after every route. Clean internal cabin as needed. Notify supervisor of repairs to internal cabin as needed.
- Notify supervisor of any mechanical related issues as they arise.
- Maintain supplies on your vehicle. Ensure that GPS and cell phone are charged and working. Ensure that First aid kits and other emergency supplies are stocked.
Communication
- Communicate with the children and their families regarding schedules, pick-ups/drop-offs, changes, and safety
- Communicate with coworkers on your vehicle and at Edgewood Children's Center regarding any changes or safety issues.
- Inform supervisor of any issues involving your vehicle or your route. This includes issues with children, their family, or co-workers; changes to the daily route; any needed maintenance or repairs; issues regarding supplies on the vehicle; any other relevant issues that may arise.
- Follow and promote all agency policies and procedures.
- Perform agency paperwork as assigned.
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned.
Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High School Diploma required
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team-oriented staff
- Ability to Maintain appropriate adult/child boundaries
- Ability to offer verbal support to clients in accordance with our treatment philosophy.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally, in supervision, meetings, and with members of team.
- 1-2 years' experience with children, preferably with special needs and/or emotional and behavioral disturbance preferred.
- Experience transporting passengers in vans/buses.
- Valid California Driver's License
- Knowledge of traffic and highway rules and regulations
- Clean driving record as defined by DMV
- Ability to physically hold and/or restrain children.
- Ability to move or lift children (50-100 lbs.).
- Ability to work with clients and staff from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
The hourly rate for this position is: $22.00 to $24.20 dependent on experience and language differential.
