WHAT DO VALETS DO?
Love driving cars? Fast on your feet? Start your job as a valet! Valets park and retrieve cars for the car's owner. Valets can work for fine dining restaurants, hotels, or other similar establishments. Typically, valets will stand in front of the establishment, get keys from the drivers, help with any luggage, and then drive the car to a parking lot, or parking space near the establishment. When the car owner returns, valets run to retrieve the car and help them inside. Valets must quick, courteous, have a valid driver's license and very careful with the cars they drive.
HOW MUCH DO VALETS MAKE?This depends on the job. Many valets receive tips from drivers, but an hourly wage is provided.
WHAT ARE THE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS?
High School, and you must have a valid driver's license. Training is done on the job.
JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Speed: Customers want their cars quickly and don't want to wait. Being able to quickly run back and forth to the car is key.Hand-eye Coordination: Valets will be driving someone else's car, and need to be careful.Customer Service: Valets need to be courteous to drivers and responsive to their needs. Good customer service means good tips.Stamina: Valets spend most of their time on their feet, running back and forth to cars.
