Used Equipment Inventory Manager
Ellens Equipment Inc is a family owned, agricultural, construction and landscaping equipment dealer. The company offers equipment repair services, parts and sales of several different types of equipment from a variety of manufacturers.
The Used Equipment Inventory Manager will consistently achieve inventory turns by managing used inventory and wholegoods equipment aging. They will mitigate wholegoods interest earned by monitoring equipment floor plan accounts. The manager will ensure adequate stock of seasonal inventory for the sales team and closely monitor the business system platform to keep accurate inventory at all times.
As a Used Equipment Inventory Manager, your job duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Manage all used equipment trade in values and evaluations.
- Work with sales staff to quickly establish hours, build codes, prices, extended warranty information and pictures. Verify all information is correct on all used equipment advertised online.
- Field all calls, negotiate, coordinate, and see through to completion all used equipment dealer to dealer wholesales and transfers.
- Utilize online websites to trade or wholesale equipment to other dealers (website ex: Iron Connect, TractorHouse)
- Manage all auction units from start to finish (ex: AuctionTime)
- Display pricing on used equipment, keep that up to date as prices change.
- Work closely with the service departments to complete inspections & service of incoming units within 7 days of deal completion.
- Work closely with the service departments to approve repairs and services on all used equipment. See these projects through to completion and get units advertised online as quickly as possible.
- Manage all lease end units with all finance companies to insure repeat business and preferred plus lease status with CNH Capital.
- Monitor aged used inventory monthly and formulate plans with the Sales Managers on how to liquidate aged products.
- Work closely with the marketing department to advertise used equipment online, fresh trade in units, discounted units, hot list units, deals of the week, etc.
- Perform annual physical inventory for used equipment at all locations. Perform spot inventory checks throughout the year for used Ag & CE equipment. Reconcile complete used inventory count and work with Controller on end-of-year inventory write downs.
- Coordinate freight on used units between Ellens Equipment stores for proper product representation at each store.
- Communicate closely with Sales Team’s on product ETA, availability, issues, stop-sale notices, and changes from service department in a timely manner. Communicate daily with service departments on these updates.
- Manage and maintain all used units on Floor Plan lines, including managing the best use of the credit lines with the controller to minimize interest paid.
- Investigate, manage, and dissolve any inventory discrepancies with the sales team, customers, etc
- Locate/investigate missing inventory and correct as needed in the business system.
- Practice efficient time management by traveling between all locations while completing all necessary tasks and meetings. Utilize a vehicle to transport equipment back and forth between stores (what fits).
- Maintain Cash Invested benchmark set by GM and Controller by monitoring floor plans and paid inventory levels.
- Assist Ag/CE Sales Managers in coordinating sales team training events and meetings with MFG Reps.
- Provide backfill to the sales floor and assist in maintaining showroom displays, outside lots, and wholegoods storage areas.

Education and experience
- High school diploma
- Training at place of employment
- Certificate from a vocational or technical school
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle status, with current driver’s license, and ability to operate agricultural and construction equipment
Physical requirements
- Must be able to safely mount, dismount and operate equipment
- Must be able to sustain periods of sitting, standing, and squatting
- Must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds
- Maintain well-groomed and neat appearance
