    Normal Work Hours and Days:  Office work hours are 7:00AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday.  Project hours are typically 6:00am – 6:00pm up to 7 days / week. Weekend work required to complete assignments is typical.  Mandatory overtime based on seasonal workload and remote work settings. Frequent travel to remote projects sites, requiring long days/hours.

    Summary:
    Responsible to help plan, design, assess and oversee equipment, construction and maintenance functions on projects, under the direction of VP of Captail Assets.

    Essential Functions:
     
    • Help plan and design systems and structures and draft detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for projects and to ensure conformance to specifications, using design software and drawing tools.
    • Document, maintain, and track project reports including daily reports, labor reports, equipment utilization, safety reports, schedules, projections, and activity progress updates.
    • Identify obstacles and challenges at the worksites and develop potential solutions to alleviate and issues.
    • Read and review project blueprints and structural specifications to determine dimensions of structure and material requirements
    • Calculate dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications, and material quantities, using calculator or computer.
    • Tracking and filing equipment repair notes.
    • Work timely with related departments including operations, engineering, and accounting, to accomplish project goals and targets.
    • Provides needed support for Cruz’s Equipment Manager.
    • Enter equipment operations and maintenance records for all repairs in the maintenance program.
    • Enter daily fuel burn for proper coding of fuel receipts.
    • Keep an updated locations list for all equipment.
    • Take Sage 100 cost code summaries per each equipment type and consolidate on an excel spreadsheet semi-annually.
    • Aiding Equipment Manager with equipment ordering and pricing of parts and equipment acquisition.
    • Arrange and file rental agreements.
    • Arrange trucking.
    • Assist in construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project sites, including transporting of supplies and materials needed to conduct work.
    • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
    • Help prepare or present reports, bid proposals.
    • Provide technical assistance regarding design, construction, or project modifications and structural repairs to management and workers, as appropriate.
    • Confer with supervisor to determine project details and goals.
    • Utilize scheduling software to prepare, update, monitor project schedules.
    • Utilize project tracking software to track labor, equipment, and materials. (HCSS).
    • Create, analyze, and update project budgets, margin projections, and over/under statements.

    Other Tasks:
     
    • Monitor and help ensure safety standards on current projects.
    • Conduct business errands requiring driving, expedite parts.
    • Assist in preparing various reports on various activities and projects.
    • Expediting parts and supplies for the shop, office, and projects.
    • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

    Education and/or Experience:
    Minimum:  
    • One or two year’s construction-related field experience or two or more years training in related field.
    • Some familiarity with cost control processes and purchasing.
    • Experience with Microsoft word, excel, and power point.
    • Must possess a valid state driver license.

    Preferred:
    • Experience with one to two year’s construction management experience.
    • OSHA 10hr Training

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
     
    • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and the ability apply techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of goods and services in heavy civil construction and remote field work.
    • Knowledge of and the ability to use a computer and software to record, track and design and analyze data.
    • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved the heavy remote construction projects, such as structures and ice roads.
    • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
    • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
    • Knowledge of construction contract principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of office protocol and the ability to effectively work as a member of a team.
    • Knowledge of and ability to use computer hardware, electronic data base management and related software.
    • Knowledge of and ability to use office equipment, i.e., phones, copier, fax.
    • Ability to work with written and computerized data.
    • Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
    • Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
    • Ability to work well with others and able to prioritize workloads and flexible enough to change gears when needed.
     
    • Ability to professionally represent the company to suppliers, venders, customers, regulatory agencies and the public.
