     LOCATION:  600 SW ADAMS STREET, PEORIA, ILLINOIS
     HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday)

    The purpose of this position is to maintain compliance with Uniform Crime Reporting standards, edit police reports for submission of statistics, and coordinate the dissemination of information to the department. This is accomplished by reviewing all police reports; collecting data; completing forms; submitting reports; analyzing UCR/NIBRS report data and participants; serving as liaison to the state UCR Coordinator; serving as a resource for UCR coding; and providing technical assistance to other employees. Other duties include assisting with the release of information, photo ID's, registration of offenders, cab license issuance, fingerprinting, and performing other duties as assigned.Ensures the quality of police reports by performing a thorough review to determine whether standards are met; analyzing UCR/NIBRS report data and participating in decisions impacted by the data; ensuring offenses reports meet guidelines; checking for reporting errors; and collecting data for the State Supplemental Crime Program. 

    Collects data for select crime reports by creating spreadsheets with information containing the report number, date, and time of occurrence, age of victim and offender, and disposition codes and electronically sending information to state police. 

    Collects data for Monthly Index Crime Report by serving as liaison to the state UCR Coordinator; maintaining all changes in the UCR requirements to update reference manual; providing technical assistance to other employees; serving as resource for UCR coding for the department and recommending changes for the reports when appropriate; and assisting in the design of any related forms.

    Performs other duties by assisting with receiving and logging FOIA requests, offender registration, City photo ID's Cab Licenses, and fingerprint requirements; pulling, updating, and filing criminal history information; and completing data entry of police document information.High school diploma or GED; over one year up to and including two years progressively responsible related experience; LEADS certification and knowledge of state and federal UCR reporting requirements; minimum typing speed of 45 wpm required.  Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, considered. Knowledge of UCR standards and procedures; police report sections and fields; recordkeeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.  Skill in using a computer to enter and retrieve data and information; accurately proofreading with accompanying knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials accurately and rapidly; work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents; write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people.
