Triangle Insurance is looking to hire a Manager of Underwriting. This key role is
responsible for supervising staff, accepting, retaining and pricing insurance risks in
conformance with established underwriting policies, practices and standards.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have 3-5 years of underwriting experience and demon-
strated knowledge of underwriting policy, practice and procedure. A bachelor’s
degree is preferred, or a combination of education and experience may qualify.
Preferred candidates will have an agent’s property and casualty insurance license
or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities
» U nderwrites insurance risks as assigned in accordance with established policies,
practices and standards for all major lines except bonds and group benefits;
» R esponsible for inquiries regarding major lines assigned, processing, guidelines,
etc. Communicates responses, both oral and written, to other departments, in-
sureds, outside agencies, etc.;
» Supervises, trains and directs subordinate underwriting staff as needed;
» Responsible for control of loss frequency and portions of loss severity that can be
controlled in the risk acceptance and risk retention process on assigned cases;
» Works to meet policy processing workflow guidelines. Develops and maintains
systems to monitor guideline compliance and interaction with other departments;
» Authorizes and/or interprets coverage forms, classifications, rates, selection stan-
dards and other criteria on assigned insurance lines;
» E nhances the level of understanding of underwriting policies and objectives to
improve the working relationship between sales and other agency partners;
