Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols for ultrasound. Functions as the first line interface with the patient in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.

They are responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of ultrasound equipment. Be able to prepare patients for ultrasounds. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of established protocols, anatomy, and equipment. The ability to adapt to changing of work environment. Proficiency with most major ultrasound equipment. Performs two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for the diagnosis of disease and study of the malfunction of organs. Able to work independently and multitask.
