Ultrasound Technologist jobs in Richmond, VA

Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be an Ultrasound Technologist typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Job Summary

    Perform 9 non-diagnostic ultrasound examinations, M-F

    Ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure

    Maintain detailed and accurate records of patient information and exam findings

    Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment

    Continuously stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in ultrasound technology

    Educate patients on the procedure, address any concerns, and provide necessary support throughout the process

    Requirements

    Graduated from an accredited school

    Strong knowledge of anatomy, and physiology, related to ultrasound imaging

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and team members

    Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

    Attention to detail and accuracy in conducting examinations and recording results

    BLS required
