Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. SUMMARY:
Ultrasound technologist performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures in the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of disease or pathology. Must use various ultrasound probes dependent on the type
of anatomy being examined. Must become proficient in recognizing cross-sectional anatomy and understanding of related technology. May also perform other related patient care duties. Recognizes the purpose of

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Required: Current BLS certification, US certification,
Preferred: Certified in ultrasonic technology by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, RVT
certification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: At least one full year of full time experience in clinical ultrasound
technology including didactic experience equivalent to the curriculum recommended by the American Society of
Radiologic Technology or satisfactory completion of another ultrasound training program.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Gathers, organizes, verifies, and analyzes data in the completion
of multi-step procedures. Produces final output within established standards. Operates complicated equipment.
