Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Sign on Bonus Eligible: $5,000 (2 year commitment)

    This full time position is located at Saint Vincent Hospital and will work daytime hours with on call responsibilities.

    GENERAL OVERVIEW:

    Performs vascular sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (50%)
    • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
    • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (15%)
    • Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (15%)
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum

    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school OR six months to one year experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • RVT within 12 months of hire
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR Registered Technologist (RT) in Vascular Sonography (VS) within 12 months of hire.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider

    Preferred

    • Registered Nurse RN
