Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. As an Ultrasound Technologist, you would prepare patients, collect relevant information for completion of procedures, and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols. Throughout the procedure, you would be observant of patients’ conditions, and notify physician of unusual occurrences.
· Compile appropriate records to expedite results.
· You will analyze the quality of images and processes as required.
· Completes data sheet containing pertinent patient information following exam prior to forwarding to radiologist.
· Take call after regular hours to meet department needs.
Requirements
· Two to three years’ experience (preferred) as Radiologic Technologist or Sonographer, including two-plus years of experience in a hospital.
· ARDMS eligible.
· Basic Life Support Certification.
· ARDMS Certification preferred.
