Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Working under the direction of the Ultrasound Manager/Supervisor and Ultrasound Clinical Director, the Ultrasound technologist is responsible for performing all technical procedures within Ultrasound as described in the DFCI Imaging Policy Manual. All Ultrasound technologist positions include the responsibility of the delivery of safe and effective imaging procedures, participation in departmental education programs, participation in organizational and departmental goals and priorities and active involvement in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) activities. Each Ultrasound technologist position requires a close working relationship with Imaging professional, nursing, and technical staff, as well as with providers, investigators, and their staff. The Ultrasound technologist will work to create and sustain a culture that fosters excellence, impact, and discovery of innovative and novel approaches towards the eradication of cancer and related diseases.
This is a 20 hour/week position.
