Tumor Registrar jobs in Idaho

Tumor Registrar identifies, registers, and maintains records of all cancer patients using tumor registry systems and software. Prepares abstracts and performs coding of clinical patient data related to cancer. Being a Tumor Registrar performs data analysis and provides reports used by researchers, physicians, institutions, and patients. Adheres to all coding and privacy policies, guidelines, and regulations. Additionally, Tumor Registrar may require an associate degree or equivalent. Requires Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential. May require Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tumor Registrar works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     What you can expect from this role:The Tumor Registrar (CTR) collects, analyzes, and reports on cancer data, providing essential information to researchers, healthcare providers, and public health officials.

    • Collects, analyzes, and maintains case ascertainment from all system centers and physician clinics.
    • Determines patient cancer case eligibility through extensive examination of electronic medical records.
    • Conducts quality assurance audits to ensure data collection complies with Federal and/or State government reporting mandates.
    • Abstracts eligible cancer cases into the cancer registry database including patient history and details relating to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
    • Assesses and abstracts `real time' data outlined by the reporting system performance measures established by the National Cancer Data Base.
    • Obtains, analyzes and implements required patient follow up information into the cancer registry's database. Reassesses and updates the abstract by noting any changes to the patient's demographics.
    • Creates, analyzes, reports and presents Cancer Registry data in the form of statistical reports, cancer studies and data requests delegated by physicians and/or administration.
    • Conducts and reviews abstract quality audits of required data elements as outlined by the data.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications for this Role:

    • Education: Associates degree or experience in lieu of degree
    • Experience: 0 years relevant experience
    • Licenses/Certifications: Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
