Fire Truck Solutions (FTS) is seeking experienced Heavy Duty Shop Mechanics. Job duties include maintaining and repairing fire engines and ladders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Positively represent FTS to all customers, vendors, and other contacts in a respectful and professional manner.
· Examine fire apparatus and review with Service Manager the nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
· Document parts needed and description of work to be performed.
· Diagnose, inspect, and perform preventative maintenance of fire apparatus both in our shop and at customer location.
Requirements
· Basic knowledge of functions of air brake systems.
· Able to use a laptop computer and be able to read and understand parts and service manuals that are printed in English.
· Must have a current driver’s license with a clear DMV record.
· Understanding of steering and suspension components.
· Experience in welding and repairing heavy equipment is a plus.
· High school diploma, GED or equivalency supplemented by special training in automotive mechanic and diesel equipment, or degree related to the core functions of this position.
· Ability to work with a wide range of tools and equipment to efficiently complete repairs and maintenance.
· Able to travel for remote mobile service when needed.

Experience Level I or Level II:
Level I:
· 2 years automotive or construction/agricultural equipment mechanic experience
· Considering Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certification for Fire Apparatus
Level II:
· 2 years heavy duty diesel mechanic experience
· Possession of, or desire to obtain, EVT certification for Fire Apparatus
