Trailer Technician
Thompson Truck & Trailer looking for a full-time experienced Trailer Technician to join our team in Davenport, Iowa. We are looking for motivated individuals who are focused on customer satisfaction and driven to succeed. Thompson Truck & Trailer is a full-service commercial truck dealership serving customers across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. We are a family owned business with over 200 employees.
Wages range up to $20-$30 based on experience and performance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform initial teardown of customer trailer to identify repair requirements.
- Thoroughly inspect the trailer and compare to the repair order looking for required parts not included and reusable parts not listed. Communicate discrepancies to the Shop Foreman.
- Perform repairs efficiently and accurately, working in a safe manner. Demonstrate discretion in knowing when to troubleshoot individually and when to seek help.
- Participate in the match parts checking in process for accuracy.
- Stage the trailer and the correlating parts in their respective stalls
- Repair trailer back to pre-loss condition or better utilizing state of the art technology and factory repair standards
- Replicate factory seams sealer, refinish, and final it.
- Communicate with Shop Foreman regarding unexpected issues that arise during repair.
- Clean work area when needed and upon completing a job to maintain a safe work environment
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirator.
- Understands, keeps abreast and complies with federal, state and local regulations including regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to the Safety Director.

Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Automotive body collision repair trade school or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Must have necessary tools to dismantle the vehicles (Thompson offers a tool assistance program to assist with purchasing tools).
- Physical demands of this job are classified as Light to Medium: exerting 16-50 pounds of force or lifting occasionally, and/or 10-15 pounds of force or lifting frequently to move objects.
- Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Valid driver's license.
