BASIC FUNCTION
The Dispatcher position ensures that incoming orders are executed, and customer satisfaction is achieved. The Dispatcher position coordinates the drivers, equipment, and routes for the most efficient and productive use of equipment and driver time. This position monitors the number of loads assigned to each of the Dispatcher’s designated drivers to provide an equitable distribution of work. The Dispatcher maintains continual communication with customers regarding current orders and anticipates future requirements.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*Execute customer orders from receipt of order through to delivery of product by building loads, assigning drivers and equipment, and determining most efficient and timely route.
*Monitor driver and vehicle performance while en route through automated tracking software, including route issues and potential Hours of Service constraints.
*Determine disposition of equipment and driver after delivery of goods to customer.
*Update customers regarding order status, including any issues that impact order requirements.
*Generate on customs website required documentation for Canadian inbound and out bound vehicles, including manifest and bar code.
*Maintain logs of daily dispatch activities, including drivers working, equipment used, and orders executed.
*Compile weekly activity report summarizing activity for period.
*Update weekly spreadsheet detailing revenue by truck and driver, including both monthly and weekly revenue per mile.
*Input into system fuel surcharge for all acid loads, as well as any extra charges incurred by customer.
*Maintain and update list of all Company trailers and mandated DOT test dates; coordinate scheduling of testing with shop(s) to ensure maximum availability of vehicle in response to customer requirements.
*Obtain directions, information about unloading and equipment needed for new customer facilities; set up new customer account in system.
*Keep customer files up to date and enter updates into system as needed.
*Provide support to operations staff, in all Company locations, for automated tracking software issues, including but not limited to errors on trucks, regular loads, the pre-assignment of loads, and moving trucks to different loads; correct errors for same as needed.
Enter loads for various locations and products as needed.
Attends Company and industry-related meetings, as required.
Establishes individual goals which are aligned with the Company's business strategies and objectives.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by executive leadership.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
The working environment is primarily indoors in a general office environment.
Some travel required to and from customer meetings and other events.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in transportation industry, including familiarity with DOT and FMCR, preferred but not required.
Familiarity with Samsara and McLeod preferred.
Experience with customer service and problem resolution is highly desired.
