Truck Driver - Heavy operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Heavy conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Heavy coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Heavy works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Helena's truck drivers are reliable and dependable and represent Helena in a courteous and professional manner while out on the road and at the home office. Our drivers are required to use tact and diplomacy in all situations dealing with our customers and other Helena team members and leadership.
POSITION DETAILS- Assists in loading trailer with materials.
- Unloads trailer by using forklift or hand truck.
- Transports loads over required route to proper destinations.
- Obtains shipping bills and necessary signatures.
- Returns completed paperwork to the shipping office.
- Removes empty skids from trailer truck and carries them to designated piling area.
- Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking oil, water, gasoline and air in tires on a daily basis.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
