Truck Driver - Heavy operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations. Being a Truck Driver - Heavy conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition. Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods. Additionally, Truck Driver - Heavy coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured. Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. May require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Truck Driver - Heavy works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Operate Heavy-Duty Rotator, Rollback, and recovery vehicle with a GVWR rating of more than 26,000 lbs. and must possess a valid CDL driver’s license relative to the vehicle being operated and towed combination.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid Class A driver’s license.
- At least two (2) years of heavy hauling / commercial driving experience
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and driving record check.
- Ability to operate an electric lift, hand truck, and pallet jack.
- Must be able to obtain twic and port passes and a PVDL license.
- Time management skills; Attention to detail and accuracy when documenting work, hours, and information.
- Ability to work variable hours which may include weekends, holidays and overtime.
- Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor; ability to communicate calmly and effectively with Dispatch and customers
- Basic mechanical skills and ability to use tools.
- Must be able to speak, write and communicate in English
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reliable, strong customer service and professional demeanor
- Ability to communicate and work closely with Dispatch.
- Ability to follow all safety requirements and DOT rules and regulations.
- Maintain clean truck inside and out, removing all trash/debris daily.
- Immediately report any issue that restricts the ability to complete the dispatch in a timely manner.
- Follow all company policy and procedures in regards towing, recovery, and road service, including the removal of drive shafts and axels.
- Ability to work with software programs, mobile devices i.e., Samsara, GPS, and towbook
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
