Truck Driver - Heavy jobs in Bellingham, WA

Locally owned and operated in Whatcom County, Cowden Brothers Trucking specializes in trucking needs. Our Trucking Division employs Heavy Haul Truck drivers who can operate Mack automatic tractors with 53' 4 axle heavy-haul trailers. We are looking for drivers interested in our Cement Clinker haul specifically, but you will have the opportunity to grow into other hauls that involve refuse.

These drivers complete 3-4 loads daily, hauling two belly dump trailers of Cement Clinker material from a Cement plant in Delta, BC to a production facility in Bellingham. Drivers dispatch from Bellingham daily, between 3-6am, and usually return between 12-4pm.  Weekly hours are 40-60, and overtime is paid after 40.  We have openings coming available soon and interviews will be ongoing until our positions are filled.

Top candidates for employment will be safe and courteous, skilled, dependable, enthusiastic, and willing to follow directions.  While each route requires different demands, we expect all our drivers to be physically capable of lifting 45 lbs., climbing fixed-ladders, tarping live loads, performing vehicle inspections, and handling adverse weather conditions.

CEMENT CLINKER HAULING DRIVER JOB DUTIES OVERVIEW

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Inspect and transport double belly dump trailers from a Cement plant in Delta, BC to a production facility in Bellingham
• Complete 2-3 loads daily, which consists of loading trailers with Clinker material via automatic hopper
• Maintain appearance and clean/wash vehicle inside
• Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, stretch, sit, shift gears, and tarp loads
• Communicate with dispatch and work cooperatively with team
• Attend safety and team meetings
• Adjust axle pressure settings for proper load distribution 
• Drive in compliance with traffic laws and Company policies
• Complete required paperwork, Experience with border paperwork
• Provide excellent customer service

QUALIFICATIONS

• Safe driving record, (current MVR will be requested prior to interview)
• Current, valid CDL
  
• Current DOT medical certificate
• Doubles/Triples Endorsement
• Experience (preferred, however, we will train the right candidate)
• Negative pre-employment DOT drug screen (required)
• Eligibility to work in the US (required)
• Ability to drive in Canada (Valid passport or enhanced CDL)
