Treasury Director manages and oversees all aspects of daily treasury operations to meet the financial obligations of the organization. Oversees cash reporting and forecasting, credit administration, lender compliance requirements, administration of business insurance programs, and debt facility modeling. Being a Treasury Director reviews and approves cash allocation reports, investment records, and expense and earnings forecasts. Develops department policies, procedures, and internal controls. Additionally, Treasury Director ensures policies and procedures meet the organization's objectives, needs, and regulatory body requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Treasury Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Treasury Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     M.T. Maritime is a ship owner and operator with a 40-year history of success and expansion around the world and is currently seeking an additional treasury analyst to work in our Southport, CT location.

    M.T. Maritime has two product segments, comprising of chemical and product tankers that are marketed under MTM Trading LLC and handy size bulk carriers which are run under the brand Strategic Bulk Carriers Inc. 

    About the Role:

    The primary purpose of the Treasury Analyst role is to perform day-to-day cash and debt management activities, as well as support cash forecasting, cash investing and FX requirements, while maintaining accurate books and records. 

    Intention is for the individual to gradually also be involved in the monthly general ledger closing process for assigned holding companies as well as accounts receivable and payable related activities for the Group. The Treasury Analyst will report to the Treasurer.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Initiate, monitor and manage the company’s bank accounts, intra-group and external funding requirements as well as short-term investment needs on a daily basis; 
    • Perform daily banking activities for the group, including liaising with internal departments for timely invoice processing, wire transfer input, cash receipt reconciliation and cash flow forecasting;
    • Close the general ledger for companies involved with cash deposits and derivative trades on a monthly basis;
    • Monitor and keep Treasurer informed of upcoming FX requirements;
    • Review and update group’s daily Cash Report, including reconciliation of cash positions of various group entities, upcoming deposit roll-overs, interest rate swap payments, debt service payments and debt balances, as well as FX positions;
    • Reconcile preliminary-/final agent disbursement accounts in close cooperation with the Operations department and collate the net debit balances for payment;
    • Assist with reporting to group accounting;
    • Assist in maintaining fraud prevention, sanctions and anti-money laundering policies; 
    • Participate in special assignments and projects as necessary, including the optimization of bank fees for payables and debt service payments;
    • Gradually grow into more accounting activities like preparing general ledger entries, closing general ledgers on a monthly basis for assigned vessel owning companies and preparing the internal financial statements for these companies;

     

     

     

    Our Ideal Candidate:

    Education and Experience

    • 2-5 years experience as a treasury analyst;
    • Bachelor's degree Business/Accounting/Finance field is a must;
    • Accounting background desired;
    • Work experience with Microsoft office products - being highly adept at using Excel and Access is a must;
    • Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred; 

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Strong financial and mathematical skills, with the ability to quickly interpret, analyze, and present financial data in an accurate and concise manner;
    • Ability to take direction from supervisors, and proactively contribute to departmental discussions regarding problem-solving;
    • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented environment;
    • Ability to use organizational skills to complete assigned tasks accurately, timely, and consistently;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
    • Ability to multitask & detail-oriented;
