Travel Training Coordinator

    • Knowledge of ADA complementary paratransit regulations, including, but not limited to, the regulatory definition of ADA paratransit eligibility.
    • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment under limited supervision.
    • Ability to work well with the elderly and individuals with disabilities
    • Technology skills in Outlook, MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) and adaptability to different types of software.

    We are looking for a growth-oriented and dynamic Travel Training Coordinator to join our team.  This position will coordinate and maintain a program to educate and train groups and individual including seniors, those with special needs, students, commuters using buses, link light rail and commuter rail.  Duties include serving as the liaison for the coordination of transportation between agencies; assisting with the certification and processing of clients eligible for services based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Dial-A-Lift (DAL) policy.

    As a Travel Training Coordinator Intern, you will: 

    • Conduct in-person interviews and functional assessments to assess public transit barriers and review any supplemental information provided
    • Prepare and submit written reports
    • Reads and interprets ADA paratransit applications, intake forms, and professional verification forms
    • Review interview results and application paperwork and follow up on assessments and professional verifications, as needed
    • Assist Applicants with completing incomplete documents, scan ADA applications, interview guides and other documents into the Applicant’s case, as needed
    • Assist the Dial-A-Lift team in identifying process improvement opportunities
    • Conduct functional physical and/or cognitive assessment with applicants 
    • Apply information obtained to evaluate applicant’s capability to independently ride fixed route transportation
    • Participate in staff meetings with leadership and Dial-A-Lift Team
    • Participate in community outreach and Travel Training education as needed
    • Assist with conducting phone calls to applicants and providers
    • Conduct phone interviews, as needed
    • Input all information into Via Software, MS Word, and Excel as appropriate
    • Participate in appeals process, upon request

    Are you the one we are looking for? 

    2-3 years of experience working with people with disabilities and/or mobility training and/or

    Degree in or certification assessing physical and developmental disabilities, mental health, or rehabilitation. 

    or

    Licensure in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy 

    or 

    Clinical and Translational Research (CTR), Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), or (Physical Therapist Assistant) PTA.

    or

    Background in Health Human Service, Social Work, Health Administration, or Education

    Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

    • Experience conducting information-gathering relating to ADA Paratransit eligibility.
    • Solid interviewing, assessment and observational skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
