Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are currently seeking an experiencedBuyerfor ourSeattle (Kent), Washingtonoffice. The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day dispatch operations for the Transportation department as well as providing input on changes for the department to assist with managing the day-to-day operations. In addition, the Transportation Manager will maintain Pacific Coast Fresh Company’s focus on customer service while reinforcing a culture focused on safety within the department and organization.

    What you'll do...

    • Assist the Transportation team in the day-to-day operations of the department, including but not limited to driver management, asset management, and route management.
    • Assist scheduling employees to accommodate transportation department needs, including maintaining list of on-call drivers.
    • Make recommendations for changes in staffing as necessary to meet the demands of the workload.
    • Participate in interviewing and selecting new employees.
    • Provide leadership and promote company values of Service, Quality. Integrity, Purposeful Growth, Sustainability, and Family..
    • Work with all members of the transportation department to reinforce safety culture.
    • Develop and maintain reporting essential to the transportation department including but not limited to miles per gallon, on time delivery, productivity, safety, and profitability.
    • Attend and contribute to regularly scheduled department and driver meetings.

    What we look for...

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 5 years of transportation experience, or equivalent combination work experience and education.
    • Class A CDL Preferred
    • Ability to lead a diverse group of associates through building relationships and trust
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate within all levels of Pacific Coast Fresh Co.
    • Ability to look at what’s best for the company when making decisions
    • Must be self-motivated while being able to work well within the team environment
    • Capability to analyze data and reporting in order to recognize trends and ability to report that to improve department KPIs
    • Advanced computer skills, with the ability to learn key programs essential to the transportation department
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel and Access
    • Proven Business Acumen
    • Problem Solving - Demonstrated skill identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; gathering and analyzing information skillfully; developing alternative solutions; working effectively in group problem solving situation
    • Judgment - Includes appropriate people in decision making process and asks for help when needed
