Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Responsible for planning, leading, organizing, and controlling activities related to and necessary for a successful and profitable branch consistent with corporate direction, policies, procedures and objectives.
Responsible for employee churn rate, lease operator/driver recruitment, revenue growth, branch profitability, quality scores, budget compliance, loss prevention, and customer retention/churn.
The General Manager is expected to make decisions consistent with the organization’s values and goals. Execution of position responsibilities must be consistent with corporate policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook. The General Manager supports the Corporate Vision and Values Statement in daily management activities.
