Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. We are looking for an experienced fleet manager to oversee all aspects of our equipment repair, maintenance , safety, telematics, and ELD programs at our Boston based trucking and integrated logistics operation. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years in transportation and logistics and possess strong customer service and management skills, with a focus on oversight of all vendor relationships and related invoice approval.
The ideal candidate will be able to cross train across multiple departments to enable further growth within the company. In addition, this position requires experience with TMS, ELD, and driver telematics systems.
The work responsibilities include, amongst others:
-Manage fleet equipment including trailers, chassis, and tractors and coordinate and schedule all related service.
-Communicating with drivers and customers to update availability of trailers/containers
-Strong experience in intermodal and truckload dispatch and ability to work alongside our dispatch team
-Demonstrated experience with international and domestic logistics
This position requires STRONG attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
