Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or the equivalent. Must possess a valid commercial driver's license and a valid Mississippi School Bus Driver's certificate. Must pass a criminal background check as prescribed by state statute.

Prospective employees must possess a valid, Class 'B' commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements and State of MS Bus Driver's Certification. Must pass a regular school bus drivers training course every other year, which is taught by the MS Department of Education. Must be at least 21 years of age and not in high school. Must attend and pass a Basic First Aid course each year if required. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening, DOT physical and criminal background check as prescribed by state statute.
