Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Implements operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Manager monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to meet forecasted capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Manager manages relations with transportation providers to ensure the achievement of required service levels. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Transportation Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Transportation Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Position Summary
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating transportation operations. Primary role is to ensure efficient and effective movement of material from one location to another in a safe and compliant manner. This position will provide leadership and solutions for our team and will maintain regular interface with all team members. The position works closely with the Transportation Operations Manager, Transportation Compliance Manager, Lead Drivers and Plant Operations Management personnel and reports to the Director of Logistics.
