Transportation Manager manages and coordinates the daily operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. The Town of Wellesley is seeking a Transportation and Mobility Manager to provide professional, administrative, and technical work in the development and implementation of neighborhood-based and town-wide transportation plans. Responsibilities include transportation demand management, capital project planning, constituent traffic and safety concerns, feasibility studies, grant writing, bicycle and pedestrian planning, sustainable mobility, transit and ride share, emerging technologies implementation, and related duties. The incumbent will interact frequently with the general public, Town boards and senior personnel from other departments. The position requires communication and coordination with transportation officials from surrounding communities and regular meeting attendance with outside organizations. The incumbent works with minimal supervision and is expected to attend select project-related meetings on weekday evenings.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Public Administration, Management, Political Science, Planning or other related field (Engineering degree preferred); five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning and municipal government; demonstrated knowledge of transportation planning, transportation infrastructure, transportation engineering and municipal government operations; demonstrated ability to influence and gain the confidence of board members and department heads; proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software; and excellent written and oral communication skills. Salary range, DOQ, is between $65,800 and $99,800 and the position is funded to start July 1, 2024.
