Transportation Director directs, develops, and implements overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. Develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities. Being a Transportation Director monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies. Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs. Additionally, Transportation Director oversees the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers. Requires a bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Transportation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Transportation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The candidate will play a key strategic leadership role in the Texas geography as we continue to strengthen and expand our Transportation practice across the state and within the El Paso region. This position will enhance existing client relationships, position for new work, and deliver successful projects. The position will work with business line leaders across all sectors, as well as with district, regional and national leadership, to position WSP as the preferred and trusted choice for clients and employees.
