Transplant Nurse Coordinator jobs in Maryland

Transplant Nurse Coordinator provides planning and coordination of all facets of clinical care for potential and actual transplant candidates and recipients. Manages referral, evaluation, and pre-transplant data for transplant patients and coordinates the clinical management of post-transplant patients. Being a Transplant Nurse Coordinator develops materials and delivers programs to educate and support patients, families, and clinicians throughout the transplant process. Requires clinical experience in the care and treatment of transplant patients. Additionally, Transplant Nurse Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree of Nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires registered nurse (RN). May require certification from a professional organ transplant nursing certification board. The Transplant Nurse Coordinator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     What You Will Do:

    The Transplant Nurse Coordinator is an expert clinical practitioner and skilled manager of clinical systems that affect patient care, and is responsible for:

    • Being accountable for the full scope of care for a caseload of BMT patients to achieve clinical, quality, financial, and organizational outcomes.
    • Mentoring and managing others to promote quality, safety and excellence in care.
    • Identifying, synthesizing and initiating resources to create and coordinate interprofessional individualized plan of care.
    • Working collaboratively with, and providing leadership for, a multidisciplinary health care team to optimize team performance.
    • Identifying quality improvement initiatives (clinical, financial, operational) that are aligned with departmental and organizational safety and operational objectives, and identifying methods to promote cost-effective use of resources.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • A minimum of Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing required.
    • Two years’ experience in oncology/hematology.
    • Knowledge of current blood and marrow transplantation clinical trials, standard of care and related research.
    • Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Maryland
