Job Summary and Qualifications

The Tulane Cancer Center BMT Transplant Coordinator RN facilitates and coordinates the evaluation of potential transplant candidates, recipients hospitalized for transplantation and post-operative complications and transplant recipients followed as outpatients. 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 

Educates patients and families about the transplant process, evaluation, waiting phases, and long-term follow-up and care; respond to the psychosocial needs of the transplant patient and family.

Assist with discharge planning in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team.

Communicates with referring physicians regarding the patients status in all phases of the transplant process and attends weekly BMT conferences.

Position Requirements:

•  Bachelors Degree required, A. Masters in related field preferred.
• Previous experience in oncology required
  
• Must have effective communication skills; both oral and written.
  
• Computer skills needed.
  
• Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care.
  
•  Strong problem-solving skills.
  

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
• Registered Nurse
