Alabama Public Television (APT) is seeking a full-time Television Technician to assist in our transmitter equipment operations area. The current position opening is in Lauderdale County. APT operates 9 transmitter sites with 18 transmitters, over 2200 miles of two-way digital microwave, and a satellite distribution network.
DUTIES:
The Television Technician will perform technical work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of electronic television production and broadcasting equipment utilized by APT. This position collaborates with the supervisor to establish and adhere to a preventive maintenance schedule for designated equipment, ensuring its optimal functionality. They promptly address emergency corrective maintenance to restore broadcast signals as needed. Utilizing test and monitoring tools, they troubleshoot equipment issues in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Timely completion of paperwork, including requisitions and reports, is maintained. They operate and maintain vehicles for remote site visits and maintain site appearances. Additionally, they foster positive relationships with colleagues, agencies, and viewers, while continuously enhancing their expertise in equipment operation and maintenance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a junior college or a technical school with a two-year degree in electronic communications, industrial electronics, computer science, or a closely related major OR a high school diploma or GED two (2) years of experience operating and maintaining broadcast transmitter equipment.
