Translator translates written and spoken information from one language to another. Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. (PRN) Interpreter / Translator

  • ChildSavers has an immediate opening for a (PRN) Spanish/English Interpreter/Translator. This role will assist with the coordination of language support services for all departments within ChildSavers, placing a majority of the focus around our Mental Health Services department, assisting with a variety of clinical, clerical and administrative tasks.
    Requirements
    • (Required) Bachelor's Degree in a foreign language, social work, or other related field
    • Full professional proficiency in both English & Spanish
    • Familiarity with interpretation equipment & technology
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule and participate in evening appointments (at times in an on-call capacity)
    • Understanding of and sensitivity towards diverse cultural, ethnic & socio-economic backgrounds
    • Availability of (up to) 20 hours per month for interpretation and translation needs
    • Current certification in Adult & Pediatric CPR & First Aid (or willingness to obtain within first 30 days of hire)
    In addition, it is preferred that the incumbent have:
    • Certification in Interpretation & Translation (from Certification Commission for HealthCare Interpreters or National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters)
    • Strong verbal & written communication skills-paying strong attention to detail
    • Time management & organization skills
    • Strong computer skills (including competency in Excel & Word platforms)
    • The ability to establish rapport with diverse populations
    • Knowledge of community programs
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care
    Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour (based on experience)
