Translator translates written and spoken information from one language to another. Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Translator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Duties:
    ~Provide word for word oral translation of state and district assessments
    ~Interpret for parent conferences, meetings and other school activities as needed
    ~Must physically be in attendance in order to interprete/translate.

    Qualifications:
    ~Must complete NYS Education Department Fingerprinting clearance. (Please note that there is a fee for the fingerprinting if you have not been previously fingerprinted through the NYS Education Dept.)

    ~Must speak fluent English as well as read, speak and write fluently in language being translated.

    ~Strong work ethic

    ~Ability to establish a positive rapport with children and adults

    ~Punctual

    ~Reliable

    ~Must live locally (attendance is required to translate/interpret)
