Reads, comprehends, and rewrites materials in designated languages following established linguistic rules related to word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Being a Translator must be well versed in vocabulary dealing with specialty. Must follow ethical procedures and policies that protect the confidentiality of information. Additionally, Translator may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Responsibilities:
- Communicate fluently in at least two languages, including English
- Translate written documents from one language to another while maintaining the original meaning
- Interpret spoken conversations accurately and efficiently
- Provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during meetings, conferences, or other events
- Assist with cultural adaptation to bridge communication gaps
- Research and stay updated on industry-specific terminology and language trends
- Collaborate with other translators/interpreters to ensure consistency and accuracy in translations
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Translator/Interpreter or similar role
- Proficient in multiple languages, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and other languages
- Strong knowledge of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary in both source and target languages
- Familiarity with translation software and tools is a plus
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of cross-cultural communication dynamics
