Title: Japanese Translator/Interperter

Location: De Soto, Kansas

Salary: 65-70K (exempt)

Working Hour: Flexible based on working with Japan – but typically normal work day M-F 8-5

A global manufacturer in Kansas is looking for a Japanese Translator/Interpreter

Authenticates and produces documents that conform to company style guides and quality standards. Conducts terminology and linguistic research and maintains terminology database using memory software tools. Additionally, the translator serves as an interpreter for spoken communications.

Essential Duties

• Interpret between Japanese expats and domestic staff
• Provide interpretation for various meetings as well as telephone conferences
• Translate technical and non-technical documents including policies, instructions, and manuals when necessary
• Compose and translate emails, reports, and various administrative functions
• Ability to translate from Japanese to English and English to Japanese
• Communication support for Japanese expats and business trippers.
• Other duties may assign by management

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

• To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Education:

• Basic/Required: Some High School
• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent

Essential Qualifications:

• Written and verbal fluency in Japanese and English, excellent communication and writing skills
• Japanese/ English business language skills
• Translator / interpreter experience in a business/ technical environment, manufacturing industry preferred
• Ability to translate quickly and accurately
• Skilled in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
• May require some travel to Japan or Nevada
• On-site position with possible remote work as needed by supervisor and travel.
