Qualifications

Job Summary:

Midrex is a multi-national firm that has projects throughout the world. Midrex has projects in countries that their primary language is Russian. With that, the project documentation needs to be translated into technical and political Russian. This role will need to perform real time translation during project meetings with the client and/or their representative.

The position will be responsible for working in the Projects department and supporting projects that require Russian document translation. Documents, reports as well as drawings will be bi-lingual, English and Russian with the Russian being the language of record.

Translations will occur as the project documents are developed, as part of the document development. When project documents are ready for internal review, the translator will receive the document to be translated. Project documents are bi-lingual, one side of the page English the other side Russian. For drawings, the Russian translation will be placed above the English and for the drawing material list, side-by-side.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position will not have any direct reports.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform written and verbal Russian translation efforts, communicating with project teams.
• Review received customer documents and translate the documents into English.
• Track and trend translations issues for continuous improvement.

Skills/Abilities:

Required:

• 8 years of technical Russian translation, spoken and written in a heavy industrial environment.
• In depth knowledge of engineering terms.
• Able to edit AutoCAD files to add Russian translation.
• Real-time translation capabilities.
• Ability to translate technical English into technical Russian.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and support multiple projects simultaneously and respond quickly to deadlines and problems requiring immediate action.
• Proficient in technical writing.
• Articulate and Comfortable in large meetings (formal and informal).
• Confident and comfortable translating in real time with Client and Regulators.

Preferred:

• Ability to interface with all levels of the project team, Midrex senior management, clients, vendors, construction partners, etc.
• Must be a critical thinker with a focus on solving and overcoming challenges.
• Proficiency with common computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel, SharePoint, Power BI, Adobe PDF, etc.).

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in languages with a concentration in Russian.
• Fluent in conversational, formal, and Technical Russian communication both written and verbal.

Travel REQUIREMENTS:

• Up to 20% domestic and International travel.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

• Domestic and international business travel.
