Training Director
  • Chick-fil-A | Christiana
  • Newark, DE FULL_TIME
  • We are in search of an exceptional leader who is as passionate about striving for excellence in business and hospitality as they are about investing in people and cultivating a culture of growth and empowerment.

The right person for this role will be:

    A proactive strategic partner

As the leader responsible for training, you will instill new and existing team members with the skills and knowledge they need to uphold the highest standards in customer service and hospitality, food safety, sanitation, and organization. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a training plan and ensuring that our team members have a great first 100 days on the job. While the majority of your time will be dedicated to making sure that day-to-day training runs smoothly and efficiently, you will also keep your eye on the big picture, setting goals, creating budgets, and facilitating partnerships with external partners and your fellow leaders. You will develop a team of trainers and give them the plans, tools, and skills they need to reach their goals. You will regularly evaluate training efficiency and make necessary changes to continue to provide excellent training experiences to our team.

A compassionate teacher, coach, and mentor

At Chick-fil-A Corsicana, we aspire to care for our community, and that starts with caring for each other. For our team members, we want this to be more than just a job: We want it to be an opportunity for them to grow personally and professionally. We know that for most of our team members, we're just a stop on their way to bigger and better things, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to teach them everything we know and help them become the best they can be while they're with us.

As Training Director, you will be a vital part of creating a supportive, empowering environment for our people to learn new skills and build lasting, meaningful relationships. We will count on you to fiercely protect and embody our values of stewardship, teamwork, personal growth, and empathy as you train our people. You will build relationships with all of our team members and invest in their growth by giving them timely feedback, encouragement, and support.

    A self-directed, self-accountable leader of integrity

As a director, you will at times be called upon to lead and make decisions in place of the owner, which means that you will be held to an extremely high standard. We will rely on you to act in the best interests of the business and of our people. You must have an extreme sense of ownership and treat the business as if it were your own: If you see that something isn’t working, be it a piece of equipment, a system, or even a team member, we expect you to take charge of remedying the issue as soon as possible.

We are looking for someone who:

    • Loves helping others win by motivating, encouraging, and providing feedback

    • Can successfully train and coach a team

    • Has a passion for working with team members of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels

    • Is a self-starter, self-learner, and self-corrector

    • Is extremely organized and results-driven

    • Has excellent communication and time-management skills

    • Can manage multiple projects at once

    • Will invest in relationships with team members, guests, and vendors

    • Can thrive in a fast-paced environment

    • Has great planning and project management skills

    • Has a passion for providing top-notch hospitality to guests in a restaurant environment

    • Can spot talent and put together a high-quality team

    • Will be a true partner to our owner and leadership team and a mentor to and champion of our team members

    • Connects with the Chick-fil-A Corsicana vision and culture

As Training Director, your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

    • All aspects of training, including:
    • Overseeing and creating a team member experience that promotes a sense of belonging and value, ensuring our store is the best place to work

    • Mastering all knowledge and skills of every position in the restaurant

    • Developing a team of trainers

    • Scheduling and coordinating training for all new hires

    • Creating and monitoring training plans for all team members

    • Working to constantly improve our training program

    • Facilitating training sessions and orientations

    • Assisting HR in sourcing, hiring, and managing talent

    • Facilitating training sessions at quarterly team member Development Days
    • Thinking and acting strategically to support the needs of the business, including:
    • Creating contests and employee engagement activities to promote growth and a fun, positive work environment

    • Providing daily feedback to team members and leaders to promote growth and to meet our business goals

    • Setting strategic annual training goals and budget

    • Connecting regularly with all leaders to guarantee excellence in communication for all initiatives related to the operations of the business

    • Being a good steward of the business, which means protecting our culture and looking for ways to maximize our investment

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in business, hospitality, or teaching

    • 3 years of experience as a leader of operations or training

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite products

To be considered for this position, you must:

    • Be able to work Monday through Saturday between 5:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. with flexible start times

    • Have the stamina to work 40 to 50 hours per week

    • Have a valid driver’s license and be bondable

    • Be able to lift 50 lbs. (in the event that you need to move inventory, help unload a truck, etc.)

    • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time

Should we hire you for this position, we will ask that you:

    • Protect the store’s resources by cultivating a culture of stewardship

    • Keep the team informed on how we are doing as a restaurant to keep them engaged

    • Maintain your knowledge of operating procedures and safety standards by completing in-house (pathway) training

    • Stay informed of changes within our brand and keep the team informed

    • Agree to our standards on personal device handling (we’re a phone-free environment, except for emergencies)

    • Commit to maintaining professionalism at all times and adhering to grooming and appearance standards

    COVID-19 Considerations:

We are taking every precaution possible to ensure the safety of our team and our guests. We have Operational Requirements that we are currently implementing to ensure that this happens.

Perks and benefits of working at Chick-fil-A:

    • Great place to work: We believe that our people are our most valuable investment. They’re not just part of our business; they are its very foundation. That’s why we choose to invest in them by providing a nurturing work environment where they feel personally cared for and where they can learn valuable business and people skills.

    • Free food: You will get free meals for yourself on your working days and your off days, and you will enjoy 25% off on all your personal catering orders.
    • Opportunity for growth: The entrepreneurial nature of our business and your position guarantees that there is always room for growth financially. Outside of particular cases where wages can be reviewed more often, we review our leaders’ wages annually.
    • College scholarships: We offer Leadership Scholarships and a $250 book reimbursement per semester to eligible team members.
    • Closed on Sundays: All Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sunday so that you can have a guaranteed day off to spend with family and friends.
    • Health benefits: We offer health, dental, and vision insurance.
    • Paid vacation: Our leadership team members are offered paid time off with a portion of the total amount available as a payout.
    • Leadership & personal development: We offer our leaders the opportunity to attend world-class leadership training from the most brilliant organizations and leaders working today to help our leaders increase their leadership capacity.
