This full-time position serves as a communication point and supply chain specialist. Improving efficiencies, costs, communicating with operations/sales, and tracking deliveries are key responsibilities. The ideal candidate must primarily excel as an excellent communicator and be detail oriented while demonstrating a could knowledge of managing freight. They must be able to multitask and take appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to deliver steel supply products in the most efficient, cost-effective way while demonstrating great service to the Customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for the supervision and management of a fleet of dedicated drivers and outside haulers, to ensure proper and timely loading and delivery of products to customers.
· Assurance of DOT compliance and administration of all reporting procedures and enforce all company policies and procedures.
· Responsible for fleet efficiency including driver productivity, miles, legal HOS, operation, availability, customer service and planning performance.
· Assist with development of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align company goals.
· Interaction with outside freight vendors and coordination of scheduling requirements.
· Build relationships, solve issues, and assist customer service, customers, and drivers with their individual needs.
· Manage the load board via SteelPro and handle all aspects of the system.
· Track and trace dedicated drivers using Samsara.
· Admin duties include scanning and uploading documents and approving individual shipment invoices in a timely manner.
· All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of traffic department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Certificate from technical school or associate degree from accredited college, bachelor’s degree preferred. two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS
Language: Effective verbal/written communication is a priority. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Computer: Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP and ERP implementation is a PLUS.
Reasoning: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Other: Proficient knowledge of business operations is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
APICS certification or Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing experience preferred.
