Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Traffic Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Pavement Marking/Traffic Control Technician

  • Dakota Traffic Services, LLC is a full-service traffic control, pavement marking, and signing company. We operate in much of South Dakota and Northwestern Iowa with offices in Tea, SD and Sioux City, Iowa. Our Pavement Marking division specializes in temporary, permanent, and durable pavement markings and pavement marking removals. We are looking for a Pavement Marking/Traffic Control Technician to join our team. This role rarely requires you to spend overnights out of town for work. If this occurs, hotel and per diem will be paid. This position will work out of our Sioux City, IA location.

    Key Responsibility:

    • Follow directions of foreman for each specific project or job site.
    • Work with crew to install thermoplastic, paint and other pavement marking materials.
    • Clean and prepare pavement for paint, epoxy, tape, or thermoplastic.
    • Paint long lines (highway/roadways) and short lines (stencils and parking lots)
    • Lift, carry, load and unload construction items including pavement marking supplies, safety cones, stencils, etc.
    • Perform and complete all work in compliance with DOT and quality guidelines, while maximizing production.
    • Setting up of work site, including traffic and pedestrian control.
      • Installation of signs and barricades
      • Temporary barrier rail, message boards and other smart zone equipment
      • Pavement marking and pavement marking removals
    • Control traffic flow and close roads on construction projects
    • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Valid Driver's License Required, CDL Preferred.
    • Ability to obtain a Medical Examiner's Certificate
    • Must be able to pass a background/MVR and preemployment drug test.
    • Ability to lift and move up to 60 lbs
    • Willing to work outdoors
    • Pavement Marking and/or Traffic Control experience desirable.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
