Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Traffic Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. JOB SUMMARY
Provide leadership, management, and oversight for entire traffic engineering department. Department Directors will be responsible for business development, project management, quality control, staffing, personnel, client relations, financial performance, business plan development and implementation, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsible for all aspects of project development and engineering including all staff, engineers, managers, etc. within the applicable department. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with company established policies and objectives. Utilizes best practice engineering methods and provides expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. Incorporates components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output. Develop major goals to support broad functional objectives and approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental and company-wide functionality with applications to business development. Department Directors are also responsible for generating and implementing company business plans by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in different regional markets or clientele.
