Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Performs traffic control duties (flagging, setting up and/or maintaining road closures, etc.) as required and in accordance with regulations, including the appropriate selection of signs and equipment for specific closures.
2. Performs shop work as required including preparing orders, cleaning and/or repairing equipment, and general housekeeping.
3. Delivers/picks up and positions traffic control devices as directed/required.
4. Programs message centers and portable electronic signal systems as required.
5. Ensures documents are correctly completed and turned in for all job assignments, with emphasis on keeping an accurate inventory of incoming/outgoing equipment.
6. Consistently and thoroughly completes pre-trip forms and alerts Supervisor or Dispatcher of any vehicle related issues.
7. Identifies and determines when equipment should be refurbished or replaced and alerts Supervisor or Warehouse Foreman.
8. Conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner towards the customer and public.
9. Installs temporary fencing and dust control screen.
10. Performs other duties as assigned

12. Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Mechanical ability and knowledge of tools preferred.
3. Basic math to perform daily tasks.
4. Good reading skills and ability to read maps.
5. Good interpersonal skills.
6. Valid driver's license and clean driver history Record
7. Ability to complete physical exam to meet Dept. of Transportation driver requirements.
8. Required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime to provide 24/7 operations coverage.
9. Available to travel to neighbor islands as needed.
10. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly.
11. Capable of multiple dexterity, climbing, crouching, and bending.
