Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Traffic Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     We are currently seeking Traffic Control Flaggers to join our team and work with the Traffic Control Department at our work sites in the Upper Marlboro, DC area. Our Flaggers direct motorists by flagging them away from worker activities, moving equipment, and oncoming traffic. If you enjoy working outdoors and have prior construction industry experience, we welcome you to apply. Those who have experience in other industries such as warehouse or landscaping are also encouraged to apply.

    The starting pay is $17.00 per hour.  We offer 100% paid on-the-job training!

    What You'll Do:
    • Perform flagger position duties at job sites based on the site plan and / or contractor directions
    • Set-up signs, cones, etc. around work areas to divert traffic
    • Complete daily paperwork accurately and timely
    • Operate a 2-way radio
    • Work under the Supervision of the Project Manager, TCT, or TCS
    • Communicate with contractors and relate specific customer / job changes and other information to Supervisor, Project Manager, office staff, or others
    • Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers
    • Work efficiently in a team environment and independently when assigned
     
    What We Need from You:
    • Valid driver’s license required
    • Hold a current Flagger certification or the ability to pass Company sponsored Flagger Certification (ATSSA)
    • Ability to lead a small crew is preferred
    • Be able to successfully complete a company sponsored Defensive Driver training
    • Must be able to wear proper safety equipment (work boots – 6 inch with safety toe, hard hat and safety vest)
    • Comfortable being regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; moving equipment, and machinery parts and working around moving traffic, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate / loud noise levels
    • Ability to lift / move more than 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
