Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. WSP is currently initiating a search for Full Time - Traffic System Operator III - Shift Supervisor for our client’s Hauppauge, NY office. The Traffic System Operator III - Shift Supervisor III is a senior level position responsible for coordinating traffic and incident management functions. Work is performed under moderate to light supervision. Performance of routine traffic management tasks are inherent to this position and applicants must have the ability to perform all functions applicable to a Traffic System Operator I & II. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring shift co-workers are kept up-to date and implements new procedures. Responsible for ensuring that proper contacts are made and protocols are followed during major incident events.
The Traffic System Operator III - Shift Supervisor shall have a detailed familiarity with Long Island's roadways, understand communications protocols and be knowledgeable on the location and purpose of all ITS elements. Candidates must be capable of independently following procedures and direction with minimal oversight and supervision. The successful candidate must be willing to work all shifts as needed including overnights, weekends and holidays, and respond to on-call issues and activities via phone.
