Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Job description
Tri-State Traffic Data Inc. is looking to hire Traffic Data Field Technician to help conduct short term machine traffic counts for multiple contracts in the Albany area (Up to 3-hour radius).
Candidate must have a strong work ethic, and be able to work outdoors. The candidate must be capable of working in an ever-changing environment
We are currently under a large contract with the NYSDOT which will be the Majority of the work. The work entails setting out a minimum of 35 machine traffic counters
(Metrocount.com) each week that stay in the roadway for 3-7 days. Rubber road tubes are set out across the roadway and then they are connected to a traffic counter. The counters are then picked up and the count files are downloaded onto a computer and emailed to central office for review. We also assign other jobs that include but are not limited to setting cameras at intersection assigned, and moving cameras from location to location, crew to crew.
We do work on all types of roadways ranging from low volume rural roads to high volume roads. The work area for this position will be within a 3-hour radius of Albany area.
NOTE 1: SOME NIGHT WORK MAY BE REQUIRED
NOTE 2: EACH CREW MEMBER MUST HAVE A SAFE PARKING LOCATION FOR WORK VEHICLE.
Candidates must have the following:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Be able to email (Including attachments)
- Candidates must have the ability to be able to drive for prolonged periods of time. This includes bending, stooping and lifting items as heavy as 65lbs from a standing position.
- Candidate must have the ability to always follow all safety procedures
- Candidate must be able to always follow instructions.
- Candidate must be able to work with other people.
- Candidate should be physically fit and be very mobile
Candidates will also be responsible for a wide range of duties which include, but are not limited to:
- Placing/ securing count tubes to the pavement using a .22 Caliper Hilti gun.
- Using a measuring tape
- Using Mapping programs to travel to specific destinations.
- Setting up, and downloading of traffic count machines/Cameras
- Maintaining / cleaning of the company vehicle
- Maintaining proper supplies in their work vehicle to complete assigned tasks
We will train this person to be universal, so they can work with a team and independently. 80% of the work will be with a team member. Candidate must enjoy working outside in all types of weather, be mechanically inclined, pass a company drug test, be physically fit and able to move quickly while working on roadways in all types of weather. They must be trustworthy, punctual, self-motivated and work well independently once fully trained.

Most of our NY staff collect unemployment during the winter shut down which depends upon snowfall but normally November 15, through early February. If we are not getting any snow fall we do have the option to work in January and February.
