Traffic Clerk, Sr. provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk, Sr. contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk, Sr. prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Incumbent is responsible for performing routine traffic tasks including fabricating, installing, and maintaining traffic control devices.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives general supervision from higher-level supervisory and management staff.

This position is eligible to naturally progress to a Traffic Technician II once an incumbent meets all the requirements for a Traffic Technician II level and is pre-authorized by the Department Head, who must determine the operational need and budgetary requirements prior to an incumbent obtaining these requirements and/or working in this capacity.
