Traffic Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Description Summary
This position involves various manual tasks. Work will be performed per the supervisor's instruction.
Ability to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to work varying shift schedule.
Must be able to setup / and or assist in setting up traffic control on City streets
Must be able to setup / and or assist in setting up traffic control on highway roads
Must be able to layout / and or assist in laying out for roadway paint
Communicate with flaggers regarding traffic on the job site.
Direct traffic using the appropriate signs.
Work to ensure the safety of pedestrians and material drivers going to and from the job.
Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
Hours of operation : fulltime (seasonal) days, swings, nights.

Valid Traffic Control Maintainer certification a plus
Basic knowledge of today’s technology (Ipad, Cell Phone, Emails) is a plus
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
Ability to do basic math.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Standard Driver’s License is required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift and / or move anywhere up to 100 lbs. Physical agility test may be required. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid outside weather conditions;
