    The Opportunity

    Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Civil Engineer role supporting, managing and leading municipal, in Sioux Falls, SD and the surrounding area. This critical role will have complete responsibility for design and/or coordination, certification, management and client relations in providing innovative, forward thinking design solutions to facilitate the development, design, and construction of city and county projects. The ideal candidate must be able to execute complex assignments under minimal supervision and visually portray complex design features. Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work tasks to meet scheduled delivery dates. Candidates must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a collaborative team environment. We are looking for candidates that are committed to client satisfaction, and adhere strictly to client-driven standards, schedules, budgets, and are passionate about working with our Municipal clients and teams!

    What You'll Do

    • Apply current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and supports other civil design workflows as necessary on a case by case basis.
    • Develop plans, specifications, and observation reports that are complete, accurate and in accordance with municipality requirements.
    • Recommend alterations to development criteria and design features to improve quality.
    • Work closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and design engineers.
    • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.
    • Involved technically with the resolution of design challenges that may include performing field investigation or observations and when necessary resolving discrepancies between multiple sources of information.
    • Check design computations performed by internal civil design team when appropriate.
    • Prepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.
    • Review plans and specifications for construct-ability, safety, and risk management considerations.
    • Maintain a value engineering mindset throughout development, design, and construction.
    • Perform construction observation duties on assigned projects.
    • Maintain accurate field notes and record drawings.
    • Coordinate on site materials testing.
    • Work closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
    • Work closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solution(s).
    • Support marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
    • Demonstrate a wide degree of out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.
    • Perform work within both office and field settings.

    What We Expect from You

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
    • Minimum of 5 years of relative engineering experience is preferred
    • Experience with City & County Government Required
    • Must have the ability to travel as needed
    • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access) and AutoCAD preferred
    • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US
