Metro Ambassador
This role will provide a high level of visibility at the Akron Metro Station and surrounding areas. Metro Clean Ambassadors provide first-class customer service, METRO Bus Route information, general directions, and information on services available.
Essential Functions:
- Customer Service- METRO Ambassadors are expected to offer exceptional customer service. Our Ambassadors go out of their way to acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting and/or provide: information on bus routes, local services available, directions, city information or recommendations. Hospitality is key, engaging and interacting with pedestrians is a huge part of this role. That means that we will cross the street/lot to say "hello”. Our Ambassadors never meet a stranger.
- Manual Litter Collection/Cleaning – METRO Ambassadors will assist in cleaning procedures per customer agreements. Our Ambassadors circulate through assigned work zone with necessary supplies and tools to assist site with:
- Removing litter- fast food bags, cups, containers, cigarette butts and other debris on sidewalks, street gutter etc. Anything that keeps your district from looking clean and inviting has to go.
- Remove graffiti- Including paint, marker, stickers, posters etc. METRO Ambassador will follow up with METRO site procedures.
- Clean and straighten- horizontal surfaces, such as trash can lids, news boxes and other infrastructure. It is vital that we clean and sanitized touchpoints.
- Additional Reporting- must be able to provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti, safety concerns etc. while providing a daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed. We will utilize the Block by Block SMART System to log entry data.
- Safety and Hospitality- METRO Ambassadors will fulfill safety and hospitality responsibilities in compliance to Block By Block and METRO operating procedures, assisting pedestrians with services such as:
- Hospitality Assistance- Offering greetings, conversation and assistance with local information, recommendations and service access. We want to talk to as many people as possible maintaining public visibility.
- Security Checks- Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to METRO PD. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles etc. Ambassador will ensure they follow Block By Block safety SOPs at all times.
- METRO Emergency Reporting- Any request by Ambassador for PD/FD/EMS etc. Following METRO policy/SOP on jurisdiction etc.
- Safety Escort- Relaying need for METRO safety escort/waiting with person & introducing to on call Ambassador. Will call duty line and relay need for assistance off METRO site. (METRO Ambassador won’t be able to leave property/post).
- Person of Interest- Engagement and info gathering via unhoused interaction. Document basic information of person(s).
Physical Abilities:
Must have the physical capacity to walk/traverse continuously during shift, with normal breaks. Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with provided inclement weather gear.
