NRG Global Trade Manager

  • The Global Trade Manager will be able to work independently, or in a team, to cover every functional area of Logistics and Export; including receiving, order fulfillment, and global trade requirements. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills necessary to interact at all levels of the organization. This person also provides team members instructions to meet goals and objectives, and interact with all departments to ensure requirements are fully understood and defined.

    The Global Trade Manager is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Manufacturing. This person works proactively with NRG Systems’ logistics, production, sales and purchasing departments to achieve goals that are in line with the company’s strategic plan. Additionally, they will be updating our Customers by providing status on their orders. They will also embrace the high standards of NRG ethics and core values.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with NRG’s Sales Team to ensure orders are shipped and delivered globally to all customers.
    • Oversight of the Denied Parties List to ensure compliance with Export Compliance Regulations.
    • Administration and updating of Schedule B/USMCA database in the various locations (Intranet, Global Wizard) within NRG.
    • Manage Automatic Export System database at NRG.
    • Coordinate consultant reviews of NRG Customer Requests to ensure that shipments are in compliance with Export Administration Regulations.
    • Work with NRG Sales personnel to develop and maintain a freight estimate template for common repetitive routes.
    • Recommend alternative logistic (Freight) solutions as needed.
    • Work with NRG Sales to prepare and quote custom freight delivery scenarios based on current and emerging business needs on a global basis.
    • Manage Freight Forwarder relationships in a multi modal setting obtaining lowest possible costs with highest service level for on time delivery.
    • Participate in the carrier contract renewal process with the Director of Manufacturing.
    • Continuously review and improve the suite of software applications utilized for the preparation of export paperwork packages by working with the NRG IT Department.
    • Schedule Carrier Pickups for International and Domestic Freight.
    • Perform Order Entry in FEDEX and DHL Systems on a case-by-case basis.
    • Develop and maintain a supplier report card for services (on-time delivery, damage claims)
    • Invoice outgoing customer shipments.
    • Process credit card transactions and apply funds to customer orders.
    • Verify cash payments received and applied to customer accounts before shipping product (checks & wire transfers).
    • Manage equipment positioning (trailers, containers, trucks, etc.) based on production and order fulfillment schedule(s).
    • Prepare documentation for outgoing international shipments (presented to customs, brokers, and freight forwarders).
    • Submit electronic Shipper’s Export Declaration to US Dept. of Commerce for int’l orders $2500 .
    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in export methodologies; identify cost savings wherever possible.
    • Approve carrier invoices before payment and dispute unexpected, additional charges as they arise.
    • Monitor freight industry pricing and determine how best to keep NRG’s costs to a minimum.
    • Provide tracking details and/or forward original documents to customers or brokers as needed.
    • Coordinates delivery of goods between NRG customers and carriers in extraordinary circumstances.
    • Document and maintain functional areas instructions and guidelines.
    • Main point of contact for sales and customers for any shipping inquiries.
    • Prepare commercial invoices and detailed packing lists for shipments.
    • Redirect or respond to general email inquiries from internal and external customers.
    • Coordinate supplier returns with NRG Logistics Group.
    • Work with NRG Marketing and NRG Sales on Trade Show shipments by establishing deadlines for freight to be turned over to NRG Logistics for shipping.
    • Work on projects generating continuous improvement recommendations as part of NRG’s Lean philosophy.
    • Execute and manage Non-Conforming Records (NCRs) to notify suppliers of damage.
    • Update Customer web portals with delivery information periodically.
    • Initiate ERP “End of Day” routine daily after shipping transactions are completed.
    • Work closely with manager to develop staff in a positive and constructive manner
      • Provide constructive input for employee performance reviews
    • Provide leadership to the team on complex supplier and export related issues

    Qualificiations:

    • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 - 5 years international export experience
    • Minimum of 3 - 5 years Logistics coordination experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
    • Demonstrated working knowledge of:
      • U.S Department of Commerce regulations on importing and exporting freight
      • The use of Carnets for the temporary import of goods to foreign countries
      • Proper packing techniques for all types of shipping (single package, skid mounted, crated)
      • USMCA Determinations
      • Working knowledge of import/export laws
    • Mathematical aptitude
    • Attention to detail with excellent accuracy
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize on a continual basis
    • Demonstrate NRG Core Values at all times
    • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and other office applications as required, including:
      • Business Central ERP System
      • Vital POS-Partner (Credit Card Processor)
      • UPS WorldShip and others as required
      • AES PC-Link (Electronic SED Software)
      • Global Wizard (Export Software)
      • Mozilla Firefox (used for XPO and FedEx)
      • Internet Explorer (used for DHL)

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

    • Work performed in a climate controlled warehouse and office environment
    • Standing on cement floors and performing repetitive lifting, pushing, carrying, bending and reaching to complete material handling of customer packages.
