Helpers primarily assist in these activities.JOURNEYMAN WELDER RESPONSIBILITIES- Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials and equipment according to specifications.
May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position. May tack weld assemblies together.- Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes. May remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.
May preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace. May cut metal plates or structural shapes.- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.

Weld Test :
We are looking for people to pass a plate test of 516-70 10 long in the 3g position.
They will test with an open root 1 / 8 opening max.
They will run Gmaw-s down hill direction for proper root fill the weld is feather out for a hot pass in FCAW.
Hot pass to cap will be completed with FCAW in the 3g uphill position during each pass visual should be conducted to remove any slag or to ensure that any roll over is not present for the next layer.
Cap visual are no weaving on cap only stringer beads with slight oscillation to control heat and speed.
Cap visual shall pass these requirements :
3 / 16 max reinforcement
No undercut present 1 / 32 or less
No cold lap or roll over must be visually acceptable to view wetted at the toes.
No slag inclusion and no cracks or porosity.
If the test plate passes visual, it will be sent to UT test for volumetric testing.
